This research addresses the topic “The effectiveness of protective measures in
combating domestic violence,” a legal analysis aimed at discussing the efficiency and
effectiveness of these mechanisms in tackling domestic violence. Over time, rising
rates of violence against women have been a cause for concern in our country. In
this sense, it has been necessary to adopt various mechanisms to combat this
problem, among many normative diplomas, in particular the Maria da Penha Law and the emergency protective measures included therein, these protective measures
being the object of our research, and we will seek to ascertain how effective these
measures have been. To this end, we conducted a bibliographic review of books,
scientific articles, journals, and websites. We chose a deductive method, starting with
a general analysis and moving to a specific one. In this regard, we conclude that
emergency protective measures, as tools for combating gender violence, despite
their contribution to discouraging violent practices against women, have proven
ineffective due to the lack of enforcement.
